Introduction:In this blog, I will be discussing the approach of handling the Business Central downtime from an End User's perspective. I will be addressing how to debug and understand what could be a possible source of error which is could be causing the downtime of Business Central Production & Sandbox.

Pre-requisites:1. Microsoft Dynamics Business Central2. Access to Business Central Admin Center 3. Access to Office 365 AdminProcedure:1. Check if you have a license assigned to your user: If you get the licensing error like the below, you need to confirm if you're getting logged in with the correct user and your license is correct.

You can go to to verify the user logged in.
To be sure if this is not a license issue, kindly contact your Administrator or a friend who has access.

September 1st, 2020 Microsoft has informed the existing Business Central customers through their Admin Center with the below message. Microsoft will be updating the Release Plan, Licensing Guide, and CSP Pricelist by 7th September 2020.Link to Release Plan
Value Proposition:As you know that the maximum of 3 Production Environment can be created, Microsoft has decided to provide the option of adding unlimited Production Environments. These Production Environments can be purchased through CSP separately.

Along with these Production Environments how many Sandbox environments will be available is NOT YET FIXED. Tentatively this ratio is for every 1 Production there will be 3 Sandboxes available.

Also, as per my understanding, the Database Space(80 GB) is allocated separately for Production and Sandbox. Hence, the 80 GB size will be shared between multiple Production and similarly for Sandbox as well.

With every Production Environment extra 4GB Database Capacity will be added. It …

Exposing Dimension and Dimension Values in General Ledger Entries

Introduction:Ever felt a need to expose Dimensions on G/L Entries? Wouldn't it be simple to check-in G/L Entries or perform a Pivot in Excel directly?Well, that is exactly what I'm planning for.

Use Case: Add the 2 Global Dimension  & 6 Shortcut Dimension to G/L Entries Table in Business Central. These fields should be downloadable in Edit in Excel.

Pre-requisites:Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business CentralVS CodeAL Language Extension Procedure: 1. Adding fields to the Page: I will be creating 8 variables on the G/L Entry Page of the Type Code[30] and add the variables as fields to the page.
2. Adding Logic to fetch data into the fields: The fields that were recently created needs to be filled in with values for each and every record. Dimension Set Entries table consist of Dimension Set ID (Integer) and Dimension Code which will be getting from General Ledger Setup.

How to bypass Multi-Factor Authentication or Email Authentication issue for Office 365 / Microsoft 365 Emails

Problem Statement:When MFA has introduced a couple of months ago in Office 365 / Microsoft 365 or made mandatory for a certain set of accounts, Microsoft Dynamics 365 NAV / Business Central had issues sending email through SMTP Email.
Pre-requisites:Office 365 / Microsoft 365 AccountEnabled OutlookMicrosoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Demonstration:1. Creating App Password for Multi-Factor Authentication based Accounts:After you have set up MFA, Microsoft 365 allows you to create a One-Time password to login to the corresponding apps. This password cannot be viewed again so copy it somewhere. Follow the process below.

2. Enabling Authenticated SMTP in Office 365 / Microsoft 365 Admin Center:
After you have a password created, you need to check if you Mail Apps have the access to your email. Follow the process below to enable. After this, you just have to use your  Email and App password created in Step #1 in SMTP Setup and run the Test Email.

Yesterday I received an email from the Microsoft Accountant Hub's Team. An email has been sent to me because one of my Tenant had an active Accountant's Hub Subscription with Business Central. Moreover, the Accountant's Hub was under public preview for countries such as  US, Canada, UK and Denmark for approximately a year. New sign-ups to Accountant's Hub has been disabled as on July 1st 2020 and will be retiring as Accountant's Hub through Dynamics Home.

A new extension will be released in Business Central to handle the Accountants Hub's functionality as on October 1st 2020 i.e Microsoft Dynamics 365 Wave 2 2020 Release.
